Three propositions, three positions

Ballot descriptions are drawn from California's Official Voter Information Guide. CAMP's positions are set by the Government Affairs Committee and the Board.

Prop 1

Proposition 1

Support

Authorizes Bonds for Housing Affordability Programs. Legislative statute.

Would authorize $11.25 billion in state general obligation bonds for housing affordability programs, including rental housing, veterans' mortgages, supportive housing, preservation of affordable housing, and downpayment assistance.

CAMP position: CAMP has long supported veterans and veteran homeownership and supports Proposition 1.

Prop 37

Proposition 37

Neutral

Creates Loan Program for Middle-Income Buyers of Qualified New Homes. Initiative statute.

Would authorize $25 billion in revenue bonds to provide eligible buyers with fixed-rate mortgages covering up to 17% of a qualifying newly constructed home's purchase price. Homeowners' loan payments would repay the bonds.

CAMP position: CAMP supports affordability in homeownership but believes better financing options already exist in the private market. CAMP is neutral on Proposition 37.

Prop 45

Proposition 45

Support

Modifies Environmental Review for Certain Projects. Initiative statute.

Would amend the California Environmental Quality Act to set deadlines for environmental review and legal challenges involving certain projects, including most housing, transportation, water, and health projects.

CAMP position: CAMP recognizes the need for increased housing inventory and supports measures that facilitate additional housing development. CAMP supports Proposition 45.
